Questions, answered

Last updated: August 6, 2026

The questions people actually ask, answered without hedging. If yours is not here, write to [email protected].

Where does the status come from?

Directly from the official EOIR automated case information system — the same source as the government's 1-800 hotline, just readable and watched around the clock. We do not change, add to, or interpret that record.

What do I need to check a case?

The nine-digit A-Number and the country of citizenship. No documents, no photographs, no file numbers of any other kind.

What is an A-Number?

The Alien Registration Number the government assigns to a person in immigration proceedings. It appears on the notice to appear and on most letters from the court, usually written as A123-456-789. Type the nine digits and nothing else.

Why does it say no case was found?

Usually one of three reasons: the case has not been entered into the system yet, the number was typed with a digit wrong, or the matter is not an immigration court case at all. Check the number against your paperwork; if it is right, keep the case on monitoring and we will tell you the moment it appears.

How fast do alerts arrive?

Monitored cases are re-checked around the clock. When something changes — the hearing date, the court, the judge decision — the message goes out within minutes of us seeing it. How fast it reaches you then depends on email, Telegram, or your phone network.

Should I rely on this instead of the court?

No. Use it as an early warning, not as proof. Confirm any hearing date with the EOIR hotline at 1-800-898-7180, with the court, or with your attorney. Missing a hearing can end a case.

Do you give legal advice?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. CaseCheck reads a public record and tells you when it changes. What to do about your case is a question for a lawyer or an accredited representative.

Is my information private?

We keep the email address, the case numbers you enter, and the channels you connect. We do not sell data, do not show ads, and do not ask for documents. The privacy policy spells out exactly who processes what.

How many cases can one account hold?

Three. The free plan checks one case; monitoring covers up to three on the same account.

What does it cost?

The first check is free with an account. Monitoring is $9.99 per month or $75 per year. Text messages are a $3 add-on because each one costs us money to send; email, Telegram and WhatsApp are free on every plan.

How do I cancel?

From Plan & billing inside your account, or by writing to support. The plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are covered in the refund policy.

Which languages does it work in?

The site is in English, Spanish, Hindi and Russian. The Telegram bot answers in English, Spanish and Russian.

Can I get alerts in Telegram or WhatsApp?

Yes. Connect the channel on the Alerts page inside your account — you press Connect, confirm in the app, and alerts start arriving there. You can disconnect it just as easily.

Are you connected to the government?

No. CaseCheck is an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Justice, EOIR, USCIS, or any agency. We read what they publish, nothing more.

Still stuck? The terms, the privacy policy and the refund policy spell out the details.
